Terms of use

Using this site means accepting the terms below. They set out what our reviews are, what our practical findings do and do not promise, how the work may be reused, and the point at which our responsibility ends.

Short version: reviews are opinion, practical findings describe our own living room, quotation with credit is fine, scores may not appear in marketing, and nothing is sold here.

Reviews are opinion

Everything on this site is criticism written by two people about how a game felt to play together. A score reflects their judgement of shared play on one screen, and readers with different households will reasonably reach different conclusions. Nothing here is a warranty about how a game will behave for you.

What our practical findings describe

Copy requirements, machine requirements, save behaviour, camera behaviour and legibility results describe the specific builds we tested, on our own hardware, at the time stated in the review. Patches change these things routinely, storefront entitlements differ between regions, and display sizes and viewing distances vary between homes.

Our legibility results in particular are measured at two and a half metres on a 55-inch display, as described on the scoring page. A different television or a different sofa will produce a different answer, and readers should treat our finding as a reference point rather than a guarantee.

Dispute counts and testing notes

Where a review reports a number of disagreements or a dispute classification, that is a record of two specific people playing on specific evenings. It describes how the game distributed information, not a prediction about your relationships. Nobody should read a high dispute count as either a warning or a promise about their own household.

Quotation and reuse

Short quotations in articles, videos, reviews and discussion are welcome provided Couch Two Player is credited and the quotation is not trimmed in a way that reverses its meaning. Reproducing a full review, translating one without permission, or using this site's text as material for commercial machine learning systems is not permitted.

Scores may not be used in advertising, on storefront pages or in promotional material of any kind. Our numbers describe shared-screen play only, and quoting one as a general verdict on a game misrepresents both the score and the work behind it.

Images and names

All photographs, illustrations and the badge on this site were made for it and remain ours. None are screenshots and none should be presented as depictions of any game. Names of games, studios, publishers and hardware belong to their respective owners and appear here for identification and critical commentary only; no affiliation or endorsement exists in either direction.

Nothing is sold

There is no shop, subscription, membership, donation route or advertising space on this site, so no order, payment, refund or delivery can arise between us. Any approach claiming to trade under this name is unconnected to the site.

Availability

The site is provided as it is. We give no undertaking that it will remain reachable, that older reviews will stay published, or that internal links will survive a future reorganisation. Reviews may be corrected, annotated, re-tested or withdrawn at editorial discretion.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the applicable law permits, we accept no liability for loss or damage arising from reliance on anything published here, including games bought or avoided on the strength of a score, or hardware purchased on the basis of a legibility finding. A review informs a decision; it does not make it.

Links to other sites

A review may occasionally reference material published elsewhere. Those sites are outside our control, we make no claim about their accuracy or continued availability, and their own terms apply to you from the moment you follow the link.

Changes

This page is revised as our testing practice develops. Whatever text is present when you load it is the text that applies, and continuing to read afterwards means proceeding under the current version rather than a previous one.

Rights that cannot be excluded

Statutory consumer protections remain unaffected by anything above. Where the law where you live grants rights that cannot be limited by agreement, those rights apply in full, and the clauses here operate only within whatever margin that law leaves available.
